I'm a mom of two here in Edmonton, Alberta. My son is my oldest... he has non-verbal autism, loves to swim, and quietly runs our house in the best way. My daughter is his sister, his translator some days, and the bravest kid I know.
I spent 20 years working as a chef before life rerouted me. These days I run a plumbing company, EVCO Plumbing & Gas, with my husband... and I write here in the margins, usually at hours no kitchen would ever ask of me.
Why this site exists
When you are raising a kid who cannot tell you what hurts, you learn to read everything else: research papers, funding guides, the look on his face at the dinner table. I started this site to put the useful things in one place, written by someone living it... the FSCD paperwork, the sensory stuff, the food battles, the words we use and the words we have retired.
The science part
Everything here leans on research, and every study I mention is linked so you can read it yourself and decide what you think. I write as a parent, so the studies do the heavy lifting... and I bring what it actually looks like at home. No miracle cures live here. No blame either. Just evidence, compassion, and what worked at our table, in our house, with our kid.
Elsewhere
I keep a playground of little games and experiments over at s4rah.dev, including a free gluten-free cookbook from my chef years. And if you are in Edmonton and your pipes are misbehaving, the family business is EVCO... we answer the phone.
Thanks for reading. Pull up a chair.
